The World’s Creamiest, Most Delicious Hot Chocolate (in a Slow Cooker!)

This slow cooker hot chocolate recipe goes perfectly with Christmas cookies or a cake! Make this delicious slow cooker hot chocolate this winter season for a Christmas party or other holiday gathering. It’s very simple – you make it in a slow cooker or Crockpot! It will be a hit in the cold weather for after caroling or served at a Christmas party.

I love bundling in sweaters and scarves, seeing my breath in the air, and building snowmen (and giving name-brand Christmas gifts for less than retail price on Amazon that I find on this Facebook group)

For me, fall and winter feel…. cozy.  I envision myself sitting by the fireplace, with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate.

My second favorite hot chocolate is from Starbucks – just their regular hot chocolate with a squirt of raspberry flavoring.  Mmmmmm.

However, my first favorite hot chocolate is the creamiest, most delicious thing I’ve ever tasted – and it’s made in a slow cooker.

This hot chocolate has become one of our favorite Christmas traditions.  We make this each year for our Christmas party in our home. The first year, the entire crockpot was drained within the first 30 minutes!

It’s a recipe that a friend gave to us in a homemade cookbook of their own favorite recipes; it has been one of our favorite wedding presents that we still use!

Just a few weeks ago (so 9 months later!) a gentleman at church introduced us to his visiting family as “the couple with the best house parties and most incredible hot chocolate I’ve ever had!”

Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate

  • 6 cups milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 package (12 oz) milk chocolate chips
  • 1tsp vanilla

Add all ingredients to your crockpot, and set it on “low.”  Cook for 2 hours, making sure to stir at least every 10 minutes.  Once all of the chocolate chips are melted, you can change the setting to “warm.”

Variations

Love dark chocolate?  Or want to make the recipe your own?  Experiment with different flavors of chocolate chips!

You can also stir individual cups with flavored candy canes, or even top it with whipped cream and strawberry syrup.  Last winter, we bought Almond Joy flavored coffee creamer and added it to our hot chocolate – it was delicious!

We love having this hot chocolate in our family.  It’s a perfect way to cozy up as a family each night after we open Christmas gifts (which we spread out over several days so we can keep the focus on Christ).
