What is Antepartum Depression?

Also known as prenatal depression, antepartum depression is depression during pregnancy.

Why is Antepartum Depression more dangerous?

Antepartum depression is almost more dangerous because it is often chalked up to pregnancy hormones.  Pregnant woman are supposed to be happy and glowing, not depressed.

But since the baby is still 100% dependent on its mother's body for its nutritional needs, he or she directly suffers when mom's health does, and that includes mental health, especially if you have a severe loss of appetite.

If left untreated, antepartum depression can lead to premature birth, low birth weight, and developmental problems.
