Devotionals for Come Follow Me 6/15 for Kids

Remember that these are guidelines for you to use in your daily Come, Follow Me 6/15 devotionals with your children!  Please don’t feel as though you have to use every single question, journal entry, or activity.  Just make sure you look at the activity in advance so you can gather any materials they may require.

Here is a general outline for each devotional for Come Follow Me 6/15:

  • Start by singing the song together and saying a prayer
  • Read the scripture together, then your family can have a discussion using the questions/comments provided.
  • Copy the journal entries into a spiral notebook.  The child or the parent can write the question at the top, after which the child can write or draw an answer.

  • In what ways are we being blessed by acting on the revelation we receive?

Scripture

2 Samuel 7:1–3, 16

Discussion

  • When David offered to build a house, meaning a temple, for the Lord (see 2 Samuel 7:1–3), the Lord responded that in fact David’s son would build it 
  • The Lord also said that He in turn would build David a “house,” meaning a posterity, and that his throne would last forever.
  • This promise was fulfilled in Jesus Christ, our Eternal King, who was a descendant of David.
  • The Lord always keeps His promises to us, even if they don’t happen in this lifetime.
  • The throne and king referred to in some of these verses is Jesus Christ.
  • What does it mean that Christ is our King?
  • Why are you grateful that He is our King?
