Family Home Evening for Come Follow Me 7/13 for Kids

Song

Let Us All Press On (Hymns #243) verses 1-2

Scripture

2 Kings 19:14–19

Lesson

  • Most of us have experiences that challenge our faith. For Hezekiah and his people, one of those challenges came when the Assyrian army approached Jerusalem.
  • Imagine you lived in Jerusalem at that time. What would it have felt like to hear the taunts of the Assyrians? (Read aloud 2 Kings 18:28–37 and 19:10–13.)
  • What do you learn from what Hezekiah did in response? (see 2 Kings 19:1–7, 14–19).
  • How did the Lord sustain Hezekiah? (see 2 Kings 19:35–37).
  • Do you ever have a time when you feel like you’re being mocked, or made fun of?
  • Ponder how He has sustained you in challenging times.

Activity

Make a sign that will help you remember to turn to the Lord.

Treat

Elephant ears (to show we close our ears to the mocking of others)
