Scripture of the Week for Come Follow Me 8/3 for Kids

Work on memorizing this scripture with your children during the week for Come Follow Me 8/3: Esther 4:16

Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

Devotionals for Come Follow Me 8/3 for Kids

Remember that these are guidelines for you to use in your daily Come, Follow Me 8/3 devotionals with your children!  Please don’t feel as though you have to use every single question, journal entry, or activity.  Just make sure you look at the activity in advance so you can gather any materials they may require.

Here is a general outline for each devotional for Come Follow Me 8/3:

  • Start by singing the song together and saying a prayer
  • Read the scripture together, then your family can have a discussion using the questions/comments provided.
  • Copy the journal entries into a spiral notebook.  The child or the parent can write the question at the top, after which the child can write or draw an answer.
  • Have fun together doing the activity as a family!

  • King Ahasuerus, the king of Persia, was angry with his wife (Vashti) and wanted a new one. Esther was chosen.
  • Esther was a Jew, but the king did not know that.
  • Her uncle Mordecai exposed a plot against the king and was honored.
  • We are going to learn this week about how Esther was brave and chosen for a reason. She ends up saving all the Jews from being killed, even though she risked her own life to do so.
  • Sister Anne C. Pingree taught: “To become an instrument in the hands of God is a great privilege and sacred responsibility. Wherever we live, whatever our circumstances, no matter our marital status or age, the Lord needs each one of us to fulfill [our] unique part in building His kingdom in this final dispensation.”
  • How does this quote apply to Esther? How can it apply to us?
