Devotionals for Come Follow Me 9/7 for Kids

Remember that these are guidelines for you to use in your daily Come, Follow Me 9/7 devotionals with your children!  Please don’t feel as though you have to use every single question, journal entry, or activity.  Just make sure you look at the activity in advance so you can gather any materials they may require.

Here is a general outline for each devotional for Come Follow Me 9/7:

  • Start by singing the song together and saying a prayer
  • Read the scripture together, then your family can have a discussion using the questions/comments provided.
  • Copy the journal entries into a spiral notebook.  The child or the parent can write the question at the top, after which the child can write or draw an answer.
  • Have fun together doing the activity as a family!

  • These verses talk about the fear of the Lord. Does God want us to be scared of Him?
  • Elder David A. Bednar explained: “Unlike worldly fear that creates alarm and anxiety, godly fear is a source of peace, assurance, and confidence. … [It] encompasses a deep feeling of reverence, respect, and awe for the Lord Jesus Christ; obedience to His commandments; and anticipation of the Final Judgment and justice at His hand. … Godly fear is loving and trusting in Him.”
  • Re-read the verses and substitute the word “fear” with words like reverence, love, or obedience. How does this affect the way we think about these verses?
  • What do we learn about fearing the Lord from these verses?
  • How is fear of the Lord different from other kinds of fear?
