Scripture of the Week for Come Follow Me 8/30 for Kids
Work on memorizing this scripture with your children during the week for Come Follow Me 8/30: 1 Corinthians 15:20–22
But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

We Are Different (Children’s #263) verse 2
Scripture
1 Corinthians 14:2, 5, 12, 26, 33
Discussion
- In Paul’s day, the Saints were doing some things that weren’t really the purpose of the church.
- According to these verses, what is that purpose?
- What is your role in “edifying” others?
- What experiences have taught you that “God is not the author of confusion, but of peace”?
Journal Entry
How can I help edify the church?
Activity
Tuesday Devotional
Song
O My Father (Hymns #292) verse 3-4
Scripture
Discussion
- This scripture may seem confusing. It sounds like Paul is saying women shouldn’t speak in church.
- This most likely was in reference to a specific case where some women were trying to usurp or overtake authority in the church; they were probably trying to do things they shouldn’t.
- You may read and discuss this section on the church website that discusses women in the church. “Women in the Church”
- Explain that men and women are different and have different responsibilities, but we are all still equal.
Journal Entry
In what ways are men and women equal in the Church?
Activity
Wednesday Devotional
Song
He Died That We Might Live Again (Children’s #65)
Scripture
Discussion
- These verses talk about one of the most important things that ever happened: the Atonement and Resurrection.
- Do you remember learning about Adam and Eve last year? They ate the fruit and had to leave the Garden of Eden. This meant that people could sin and could die.
- Christ’s birth, death, and resurrection are vital to us returning to live with God again. This is all part of God’s plan called the Plan of Salvation.
Journal Entry
How is my life different because I know about the Resurrection?
Activity
Thursday Devotional
Song
Family History—I Am Doing It (Children’s #94) verse 2
Scripture
Discussion
- What are some things that little children can’t do for themselves? Who helps them?
- When we die, and our spirit leaves our bodies, we then go to the spirit world.
- Jesus said that we all need to be baptized by someone who has the priesthood in order to return to live with Him. But so many people have lived and died without being baptized.
- People in the spirit world don’t have bodies, so they can’t be baptized for themselves.
- We still have our bodies, so we can find the names of our ancestors and do baptisms on their behalf, just like someone helps a child do something they can’t do for themself.
- These are called “baptisms for the dead” and we do them in temples.
Journal Entry
How can I prepare to do baptisms for the dead?
Activity
Friday Devotional
Song
The Lord Gave Me a Temple (Children’s #153)
Scripture
Discussion
- When we get resurrected, our bodies will be perfect: they will be unable to get old and die again.
- Many Christians believe in just heaven or hell, but it’s actually more than that.
- Paul used the sun, moon, and stars as symbols for the three kingdoms: Celestial, Terrestrial, and Telestial.
- Every single person will be resurrected, and their new, perfect bodies will reflect which of the kingdoms they will go to.
Journal Entry
How can I work towards going to the Celestial Kingdom?
