Family Home Evening for Come Follow Me 4/5 for Kids

- What are keys used for?
- What is the Priesthood? (God’s power He gives to His children to do His work.)
- What kinds of things can we do with the Priesthood? (Baptisms, sacrament, blessings…)
- Along with the Priesthood power, there are also Priesthood keys, which is when someone has the authority from God to do certain things in the gospel.
- Some people who have Priesthood keys are bishops (keys to run the ward) and prophets (keys for everything in the world) and temple sealers (keys to seal a couple together).
Activity
Get 5 or 6 keys and have each child pick one or more to find the lock that it matches.

- What did Jesus say about building His church?
- The foundation He is talking about isn’t Peter himself, but the Priesthood Keys that Peter would get to be able to run the Church.
- Who was with Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration? What happened?
- The apostles also received the keys, or authority, to lead Christ’s church after He died.
- Those keys were lost after all the apostles were killed until the Church was restored through Joseph Smith. Peter, James, and John (along with others) came to Joseph Smith and gave him a blessing to give him the keys.
