Family Home Evening for Come Follow Me 9/13 for Kids

Song

How Firm a Foundation (Hymns #85) verse 4-5

Scripture

Ether 12:27

Lesson

  • Later this week, we will talk about Paul and how he had a difficult experience that made him stronger.
  • Elder Brook P. Hales gave a General Conference talk where he shared three stories of people who had difficult trials. Let’s read them together. (Mortality Works!, Liahona, Nov. 2024, 83–86.)
  • What do we learn about experiencing trials from these stories and this verse in Ether?
  • How can we follow their examples?

Activity

Get a piece of rough, slivery wood and sandpaper. We are like the wood before we have trials. (Let everyone feel it.) Would you want to use this wood to make a spoon or pencil? Then use the sandpaper and talk about trials we might experience. Now feel the wood again – it is smooth!

Treat

Strongman sticks or Barbell Cookies

Scripture of the Week for Come Follow Me 9/13 for Kids

Work on memorizing this scripture with your children during the week for Come Follow Me 9/13: 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
