Devotionals for Come Follow Me 10/11 for Kids

Remember that these are guidelines for you to use in your daily Come, Follow Me 10/11 devotionals with your children!  Please don’t feel as though you have to use every single question, journal entry, or activity.  Just make sure you look at the activity in advance so you can gather any materials they may require.

Here is a general outline for each devotional for Come Follow Me 10/11:

  • Start by singing the song together and saying a prayer.
  • Read the scripture together, then your family can have a discussion using the questions/comments provided.
  • Copy the journal entries into a spiral notebook.  The child or the parent can write the question at the top, after which the child can write or draw an answer.

  • How much work does it take to be really good at something, like playing the piano? How can that be applied to being good at being holy?
  • When we are trying to make a choice, we can ask ourselves, “What would a holy person do?”

Discussion

  • If you are waiting for a baby to be born, what do you do to get ready? How do you know it is almost time?
  • How is this like waiting for the Second Coming?
  • We talked a bit about this during FHE, but what more do these verses teach us?
  • We don’t know when Jesus will come again, so it is important we are prepared as if He were coming today.
  • Imagine that the Savior will visit your class or home today. How could we prepare for His visit?

Discussion

  • We’ve talked a lot about the Second Coming this week. Some of the early Saints were excited about it and thought it would come soon.
  • What does Paul teach them about what would happen before the Second Coming?
  • “Falling away” is talking about the Great Apostasy, which was the 1,800 years between Jesus and Joseph Smith.
  • Jesus brought the Priesthood and all of the gospel truths back when He called Joseph Smith to be a prophet.
  • How are we affected by the Apostasy and Restoration today?

Activity

Use cups to build Christ’s church. Then show the collapse of the Church with missing parts. How can it be built again? Were there missing pieces?

Sunday Ideas for Kids for Come Follow Me 10/11
