Family Home Evening for Come Follow Me 6/7 for Kids

Lesson
- We are going to talk about the most important thing that has ever happened or ever will happen in the entire history of the world. Do you know what that is?
- All of us make mistakes and commit sin. We cannot return to heaven anymore, no matter how sorry we are. There is a punishment for every single mistake, every single time.
- Jesus suffered that punishment instead of us. And because of that, He can forgive us and let us come to the Celestial Kingdom as we do what He asks and ask Him for forgiveness when we fall.
- Think about it like throwing a ball and breaking a neighbor’s window. It costs hundreds and hundreds to replace it, and the owner wants the payment now. The parent pays for the window, and the child does chores around the house to help pay the parent back, though they will never be able to earn enough.
Activity
Look at pictures of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. What do you notice about them? How do they make you feel?
Treat
Make your favorite pie (because Christ was humble, and sometimes we need to eat humble pie).
Scripture of the Week for Come Follow Me 6/7 for Kids
Work on memorizing this scripture with your children during the week for Come Follow Me 6/7: Luke 22:19–20
And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

Devotionals for Come Follow Me 6/7 for Kids
Remember that these are guidelines for you to use in your daily Come, Follow Me 6/7 devotionals with your children! Please don’t feel as though you have to use every single question, journal entry, or activity. Just make sure you look at the activity in advance so you can gather any materials they may require.
Here is a general outline for each devotional for Come Follow Me 6/7:
- Start by singing the song together and saying a prayer.
- Read the scripture together, then your family can have a discussion using the questions/comments provided.
- Copy the journal entries into a spiral notebook. The child or the parent can write the question at the top, after which the child can write or draw an answer.
- Have fun together doing the activity as a family!
Modifications for older children for Come, Follow Me 6/7 daily devotionals:

- The “cup” Jesus talks about is the punishment for our sins – it was really, really hard. So why was Jesus willing to do it?
- Repeat the words “Not my will, but thine, be done.” What do they mean?
- What does Heavenly Father ask us to do that’s hard? When have we followed Him, even when we didn’t want to, and seen blessings?
