Hey y’all, Tiffany here with a delicious fresh cranberry salad recipe from my grandma.
Yes, this is the same grandma who gave me the recipes for Easy and Cheap Tuna Noodle Casserole and The Secret Ingredient for the World’s Best Pancakes.
Here’s her actual recipe card:
I’m not usually a huge fan of cranberries or cranberry sauce or salad, but my grandma’s recipe is amazing! I love having it for Thanksgiving dinner, along with these other Thanksgiving recipes. It goes great with this recipe for Green Bean Artichoke Casserole.
But if you really, really don’t like cranberries, then a great alternative for my grandma’s cranberry apple salad is this Marshmallow Fruit Salad.
Ingredients for Fresh Cranberry Salad
Here are the ingredients that you’ll need for my grandma’s cranberry salad:
- 3 1/2 cups fresh cranberries (or use dried if needed)
- 2 large apples
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup crushed pineapple
- 1/4 bag of baby marshmallows
- 1 pint whipping cream
If you want a similar salad that has some leafy greens in it, then try this Christmas Apple Salad.
Directions for Fresh Cranberry Salad
First, grind the apples and cranberries 24 hours before you plan on making the rest of the salad.
Add the sugar and place in the fridge overnight. If you have leftover cranberries, you can make these honey fermented cranberries.
Once they have sat in the fridge for 24 hours, and just a few hours before serving, add in the pineapple, marshmallows, and whipping cream. Mix well.
Place back in fridge and allow to chill for a couple of hours.
Serve chilled and enjoy!
