The Priesthood Is Restored (Children’s #89)

Scripture

Doctrine and Covenants 13

Lesson

  • In a wooded area near Harmony on May 15, 1829, John the Baptist appeared to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery. He placed his hands on their heads and conferred the Aaronic Priesthood upon them, calling them “my fellow servants”
  • What can we do now that we have the Aaronic Priesthood again?
  • You can also read Joseph Smith—History 1:68–74 that is from Joseph Smith’s perspective.
  • What are priesthood keys? There are two kinds: the first is given to all men with the priesthood, and the second is the kind given to specific leaders, like bishops.

Activity

Draw pictures of what happened. You can reference the gospel art book to see other depictions.

Treat

Any of the candies based on these baptism treats.

  • Joseph Knight wanted to know how he could help in the work of the Lord.
