Remember that these are guidelines for you to use in your daily Come, Follow Me 9/22 devotionals with your children! Please don’t feel as though you have to use every single question, journal entry, or activity. Just make sure you look at the activity in advance so you can gather any materials they may require.
Here is a general outline for each devotional for Come Follow Me 9/22:
- Start by singing the song together and saying a prayer
- Read the scripture together, then your family can have a discussion using the questions/comments provided.
- Copy the journal entries into a spiral notebook. The child or the parent can write the question at the top, after which the child can write or draw an answer.

- What are some of the priesthood ordinances? (Sacrament, baptism, temple, etc.)
- Why is it important to have the priesthood restored?
- Look at the page in the General Conference Liahona (or here on the Church’s website) at the leaders of the Church. How can we support them from far away?

- Coloring Page: “Baptism and confirmation are ordinances that bless my family.”
- Read Sister Becky Craven’s message “Careful versus Casual” (Ensign
or Liahona, May 2019, 9–11) - Read “Warren Cowdery,” Revelations in Context, 219–23;
- Sing Quickly I’ll Obey (#197b) as a family and practice doing different responsibilities quickly.
- Look at the current Church leaders and talk about which offices they hold and who they are as people.
- Make thank-you cards for your local Church leaders, such as the Bishop or a primary teacher, as one way to sustain them in their callings. Discuss other ways you can sustain them (such as listening reverently).
- “Blessings of the Priesthood Are Available to All” (October 2012 Liahona and Friend). An explanation of priesthood ordinances. Includes a fill-in-the-blank activity and a coloring page.
- Read “Sustaining Bishop Sheets”. Talk about something they like about the bishop of your ward or the president of your branch. Then discuss what you will do to show appreciation and lighten his load.
- Play “Church Words and Phrases Game” (October 1996 Liahona and July 1991 Friend)
- Sing Music: “The Sixth Article of Faith” (Children’s Songbook, 126) multiple times to memorize it together.
- Watch Video: Doctrine and Covenants Stories, “Chapter 65: The Church of Jesus Christ Today”
- “Sharing Time: A Day with the Bishop” (August 1990 Liahona and July 1989 Friend). Cut out pictures of things a bishop might do and paste them in the correct squares. Follow his footsteps to see the many things he does.
- Read “Restoring the Ancient Order,” Revelations in Context, 208–12.
