Family Home Evening for Come Follow Me 11/10 for Kids

Remember that these are guidelines for you to use in your daily Come, Follow Me 11/10 devotionals with your children! Please don’t feel as though you have to use every single question, journal entry, or activity. Just make sure you look at the activity in advance so you can gather any materials they may require.
Here is a general outline for each devotional for Come Follow Me 11/10:
- Start by singing the song together and saying a prayer

- Copy the journal entries into a spiral notebook. The child or the parent can write the question at the top, after which the child can write or draw an answer.

Discussion
- In the Old Testament, many of the prophets like Abraham, Jacob, and Moses had more than one wife. This is called polygamy.
- Joseph Smith was confused by this, so he prayed to Heavenly Father. What do these verses tell us about polygamy?
- This revelation about polygamy was very difficult and hard for Joseph and his wife, Emma. What can we learn about their example in doing the Lord’s will even when we don’t want to?
- We do not practice polygamy today; marriage is between one man and one woman.

- “3-D Thankful Apple” (November 2018 Friend). Instructions for making a paper apple that has things you are grateful for written on it.
- “Fishing for Blessings” (November 2017 Friend). Play this game with your family to talk about ways Heavenly Father has blessed you.
- “The Godhead” (February 1995 Friend). Read scriptures to learn more the Godhead. Then color the spaces in the picture as suggested after each scripture reference to make a mosaic.
- “School Is Cool!” (September 2017 Friend). Look at the things each friend likes about school and circle the thing each pair of friends has in common.
- Set goals as a family about things you want to learn about or how to do.
- Hang this Bright Idea Poster: “Seek ye out of the best books words of wisdom; seek learning, even by study and also by faith.” (May 2013 Friend).
- Sing together a song about our bodies, such as “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes” (Children’s Songbook, 275). Talk about how God has a body like ours, and we should take care of our bodies.
- “Every Body Is Beautiful” (May 2018 Friend). Bodies come in all colors, shapes, and sizes. Look at the children on this page and tell what they have in common and what is different.
- This may be a good time to talk to your children about body safety with guidance from this blog post about how to keep your children safe.
