Be Thou Humble (Hymns #130)
Scripture
Ether 6:9, 12, 30; 7:27; 9:28–35; 10:1–2
Discussion
- As we learn more about the Jaredites, we’re going to learn about how they were very wicked at times. However, they were very humble at other times.
- What did they do when they first arrived at the Promised Land? How does this compare to Laman and Lemuel, who made the same journey?
- Why did these Jaredites humble themselves in these situations?
- What did they do to show their humility? How were they blessed as a result?
- Sometimes they were humble on their own, and sometimes they were made to be humble.
- The righteous kings always remembered the Lord. How can we remember what He has done for us?
Journal Entry
What can I do to walk humbly before the Lord?
Activity
Wednesday Devotional
Song
Repentance (Children’s #98)
Scripture
Discussion
- When two or more people conspire to keep their wicked acts secret, they are involved in a secret combination.
- The Book of Mormon has lots of times where the people had secret combinations. Why is this a problem?
- Do secret combinations really work? (No, Heavenly Father still sees everything.)
- Why do you think Moroni was commanded to write what he did about secret combinations?
- Repentance is the opposite of a secret combination – we apologize to the person we wronged and try to make it right again.
- What have you learned from the book of Ether that can help you obtain the blessings described in Ether 8:26?
