Scripture of the Week for Come Follow Me 5/19 for Kids
Work on memorizing this scripture with your children during the week for Come Follow Me 5/19: Doctrine and Covenants 49:15–17
And again, verily I say unto you, that whoso forbiddeth to marry is not ordained of God, for marriage is ordained of God unto man.
Wherefore, it is lawful that he should have one wife, and they twain shall be one flesh, and all this that the earth might answer the end of its creation;
And that it might be filled with the measure of man, according to his creation before the world was made.

Listen, Listen (Children’s #107)
Scripture
Doctrine and Covenants 49:5–23

- There was a man nameed Lemon Copley who had been part of a different church called the Shakers.

Scripture
Doctrine and Covenants 49:15–17
Discussion
- Some of the Shakers said that people shouldn’t marry. What do we learn about marriage in these verses? It needs to be between one man and one woman.
- Elder Ulisses Soares taught that “the restored gospel of Jesus Christ proclaims the principle of full partnership between woman and man, both in mortal life and in the eternities.”
- The world tries to confuse this issue. This is one reason why the Lord called a prophet for our time.

Reverence Is Love (Children’s #31)

- Many members of the Church were confused because they didn’t know how to tell if what people were saying was true or not (like the Shakers).
