Scripture of the Week for Come Follow Me 4/14 for Kids

Work on memorizing this scripture with your children during the week for Come Follow Me 4/14: Doctrine and Covenants 76:22-24

And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives!

For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father—

That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God.

Monday Devotional

Song

This Is God’s House (Childrens #30a)

Scripture

Doctrine & Covenants 110:1–10 (the first experience mentioned below)

Doctrine & Covenants 76:11–14, 20–24 (the second experience)

Discussion

  • April 3, 1836, was Easter Sunday. After taking the sacrament with other saints in newly dedicated Kirtland Temple, Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery found a quiet place behind a veil in the temple and prayed.
  • The Savior appeared to them and declared… (read the first scripture).
  • What does it mean to say that Jesus Christ is “he who liveth”? It doesn’t just mean that He rose from the tomb on the third day and appeared to His Galilean disciples. It means that He lives today. He speaks through prophets today. He leads His Church today. And He heals wounded souls and broken hearts today.
  • The Prophet Joseph Smith actually saw the risen Savior several times. In another experience, afterwards Joseph and Sidney described their testimony that He lives. (Read the second scripture).

  • We recently watch General Conference. What did you learn from the living prophet and apostles?
  • How does knowing that Christ lives help us with our testimonies of His true Church?
